Our Collective Movement: Corruption Free Climate Action
International Anti-Corruption Day 2022 at the Green Climate Fund

At COP27, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) started the movement by leading the conversation on bringing in more support for civil society to engage with climate action and help ensure integrity and accountability. It is clear that a multi-stakeholder response to the climate crisis is the way forward. Governments, business and industry sectors; international institutions, and civil society organisations must work together in response to climate change.

This International Anti-Corruption Day 2022, the challenge is to increase transparency, maintain accountability and prevent corruption in climate action. As investments rush in and portfolios diversify in a rapid phase, all actors must pitch in to safeguard these resources and project processes from corruption, ensuring that communities receive the needed relief and benefits of climate action.

This panel will discuss the challenges and emerging trends in preventing corruption, what measures are being taken, and the outlook for accountability in executing climate projects.
